I did some major soul searching recently about why photographing families hasn't been my favorite. Like, ever. In the past, family sessions tended to me make me very anxious, I could never think clearly enough to make everyone look "perfect", and most of all, the way I was going about it wasn't staying true to my artistic style and who I wanted to be as a photographer. Because of this, I decided to give true "lifestyle" family photography a shot, and aim for capturing CONNECTION over PERFECTION. I took some advice and a few lessons from a veteran photographer I really admire, and set out on this new journey! It was so fun to learn something new, and I can honestly say that it ignited my excitement for family photography, and I hope to offer more of these sessions in the future! I think this is what I had in me the whole time, and it was just waiting to be invited out. :)
Thank you to these lovely families (and a few not pictured) who were as excited as I was to try something new and step away from the norm to be "artsy". Yahoo!!
