Ryen's Cake Smash!

I've always wanted to do a one year old birthday cake smash with a cute little client, and what do you know?! I happen to have a sweet little daughter who is about to turn one! She was my test subject since it was a first for me as a photographer and mommy (setting up a cake studio somewhere with enough light in these dreary fall months, having a plan for the mess afterward, making a cake that would photograph well, etc.). She wasn't a big fan of digging in the frosting, especially after she tipped over the cake and it scared her. It took a lot of tears & convincing to get her anywhere near that cake again, but I finally got her to at least sit by it for a few more shots. It was a lot of (unpredictable) fun, and I'm hoping to be able to do it again someday with another little one!

Sunset Minis for Sweethearts - Round 2

The Seattle weather has been amazing here, and we were able to squeeze in a final late summer evening for sweetheart mini sessions. Besides being a ridiculously gorgeous couple, these two were so fun to take photos of and just the nicest people! I can't wait until next summer to do some more of these romantic mini sessions!

In addition to these two lovebirds, I had the chance to take some "sweetheart" pictures of a different sort for this sweet mama and her little loves. Could they be any cuter?!

Impromptu Sunset Sweetness

So, we have these amazing friends that have this amazing home on acreage with an amazing little patch of grass that happens to be in the perfect position for amazing evening sun. I am so jealous! She is also a photographer at heart and we couldn't resist taking advantage of the delicious, hazy, golden light that was streaming through their trees at that moment. The older kiddos weren't in the mood (as is typical), but we had some fun with my little one, and I even got to sneak in a few. Thank you Jessica for snapping these gorgeous photos! A side note - apart from some very slight color corrections that needed my help, these are barely changed from the light we were experiencing that evening. This kind of light is why I am a photographer, and why you should strongly consider scheduling your photo session during evening hours.

Sunset Minis for Sweethearts

It has been a long hiatus, but I'm slowly getting back in the swing of things! My favorite subjects to photograph are lovey dovey couples, so I held a few "couples only" mini sessions in a dreamy field nearby. The sunlight was perfect, the people were amazing, and best of all, each couple took my advice and went on a date night after taking their romantic pictures! That makes my heart so happy. Look for another chance at these coming in September if the weather cooperates!
