Every year I take my own children on a little "photo date" to document them just as they are at their current stage - their mannerisms, silly looks, that cute toothless smile that seems to change every month, their changing sense of style. AND every year around June, I reflect on how much they've grown over the school year and how different they look than when they started school in September. I love the traditional school portraits, don't get me wrong, but they don't really capture who our little ones ARE. Thus, Yearly Milestone Portraits (or "End of School Year Portraits") were born. Each kiddo has their own 15 minutes of fame. We chit-chat, walk around, explore a little, and play - it's super laid back, usually pretty giggly, and the kids really like having their own time to shine. These are quickly becoming some of my favorite sessions to offer, and I can't wait for next year!
Here are some of my favorites from our sessions this month:

Baby L - {20 days new} - lifestyle newborn session
Welcome to the world, sweet Baby L!
May 12th 11:30pm
7 pounds 4 ounces 20 inches long
This sweet little angel was born just 30 minutes before Mother's Day, making her mama's 1st Mother's Day even sweeter! Before she was born, her mom and dad didn't find out her gender, but dad (and most everyone else) was sure they were going to have a boy - until their ultrasound when dad saw how wiggly she was, and then he changed his mind to thinking it was probably a girl...and turns out he was right! Yay!
Baby L's timing was impeccable - she very politely waited for mommy to finish up her to-do list so she didn't get behind on her clinical rotations (she was secretly hoping baby would wait until at least Thursday) and for daddy to finish up giving an exam and getting all the grading wrapped up (he was secretly hoping baby would wait until Friday). So on Friday evening, contractions started and by Saturday night she was here - 2 days early! Both sides of the family were eagerly awaiting the news to hear if baby was a boy or a girl and what her name would be...and being the 1st grandchild on either side, the anticipation was even greater and more exciting! She has melted the hearts of everyone in her family tree and is so loved!
K & J - thank you for allowing me to be a part of these early days in L's life, and for welcoming me into your home to capture these beautiful moments with your new family. Wishing you all the best!! xoxo, Julie
